SAFETY TIPS ON SKI

In this publication we are going to discuss the most important issues we have to consider when we skied to ensure your safety and that of other skiers. At the end of the post will have a presentation that you can be useful to show to childs and so will become aware of these important issues.

If through your experience you would bring some new advice, do not hesitate to write it in the comments.

1. The first you should know is that we don´t skiing alone, so we must adapt to this situation and with the amount of people who currently are on piste to control our speed and do not make sudden changes of direction, since it can be skiing right behind us another skier and can mow down us.

2. To avoid this, we must prevent just that I just mentioned, so we must not ski glued to another skier. We must always keep a safe distance, because if you collide behind the other skier the blame is yours.

3. Another important aspect is what to do once we have fallen. If is possible, you never stay in the middle of the piste, or will have high chances that other skier collides with you. Try to stand up quickly or go away to the side of the piste. If because a injury or similar circumstance we will stay longer than planned on the floor, we perform an X with skis right behind us, to warn other skiers of our presence and emergency equipment in case you need them to come to our aid.

4. If you are not an experienced skier, not skiing on the edges of the piste, because if you fall you can end up outside them, with the risk to hit with trees, rocks or slide through an area without snow, with the consequences that this entails.

5. If you are uploaded on the chairlift with other people, talking to know which direction you are going to get out of it, since otherwise it is possible that you cross and consequently you are going to fall, considering that falls of this type are often the worst.

6. If snow conditions are not right, slow down, as well as fog or strong winds.

7. Assure you start skiing before the pressure in the bindings is correct and the edges are sharp.

8. As commented in a previous post, wear a helmet and other appropriate protections.
