In this post I will talk about the types of ski lifts that will find on a ski resort and the fundamentals for learning to use this lifts, avoiding falls on those whose difficulty of use is higher.
After reading this article, you will realize the variety of ski lifts that exist, however, except in the major ski resorts, it is difficult to see everyone on the same ski resort.
Conveyor belt: This is one of the simplest lifts, since the skier only should approach to the conveyor belt and be swayed by it, being very difficult to lose balance. This ski lift will find mainly in the beginner pistes.

Telecord: Ski lift also used to ascend little steep slopes. It consists of a rope moving when the skier must hold and be dragged to the end of the piste. Although it is also difficult to lose balance, to ensure our stability we should maintain our weight centered and maintain a straight line with the skis, avoiding make turns.

Telebaby: The telebaby is a type of ski lift adapted to children, since its speed and dimensions are smaller. Their characteristics are similar to the ski lift.

Ski lift: This system is also known as "perch". The ski lift is a steel cable hanging on a metal stick with a base that allows the skier to grasp them safely. This type of lift is probably the sky lift that most falls causes; because once he is caught by the skier goes too fast, causing the fall of it. To teach to take this ski lift safely, I will refer to one whose base is a circle that the skier inserted between her legs.
First, once we catch the "hanger" we enter it quickly between the legs. Once the hanger it’s located, we must keep skis parallel and weight leaning slightly forward. After this, we mustn´t be frightened of the exit movement, we simply hold the position. When we get to the top, we will loose the perch only when we have overcome the slope, otherwise we will slide back slope beneath.

Chairlift: This ski lift is the most representative of the ski slopes. It consists of a metal wire that has seats (1,2,4,6,8 ...) in which the skier must sit to be uploaded to the top. Newer are braked in both ascent and descent, making it very easy to use. For those older, when we wait up, we should take a position in which the legs are bended and once we feel the contact we must sit. To take down we raise the tips of the skis and once the back of the skis touch the snow, we propel.

Cable car and Funicular: Normally used to transport skiers to the slopes. In both can travel a great number of people. The difference is that the cable car cabins are hanging cabins from wires and funicular railway is a type of train that it’s on rails.
To take them we must not wear the skis.

I think the hardest type of lift are the "hangers". The starting position has been clear
ReplyDeleteto me, but could you explain more about how to avoid falling when I have to release
the lift?
Hi Jenny! When you get to the top and you have to drop the hanger you should always wait for the piste is flat and use the momentum of the ski lift
