WHAT TYPE OF GLASSES SHOULD WE CHOOSE IN THE SNOW?

This is a question that comes to the vast majority of skiers, because in a day of bad weather and poor visibility choosing the glasses shall be clearly tilted in favor of the ski goggles, but on a sunny day the answer is no as easy as it might seem.

Below I will discuss some of the benefits and disadvantages of each type of glasses based on objective parameters, and then I’m going to give my opinion.

By using sunglasses we won lightness, mainly because of their small size compared to the ski goggles. We also get a complete sun protection, always assuming that we bought approved glasses and the protection of the lens is adequate.
We will avoid feeling overwhelmed and hot on hot days, especially for beginner skiers, and finally, seen from an aesthetic approach, they don´t leave sun marks in our face.

Contrary, we find the more fragility and the possibility that we stick the lens into a fall, the poor fit to the helmet and low wind protection.

As for the ski goggles, the advantages are its good fit and wide viewing angle, the greater wind protection and resistance to falls.

Contrary are the chances of fogging and the possibility that beginners feel overwhelmed.

From my point of view, I agree with the first lines of this article, because if the weather is adverse will be no doubt in choosing the ski goggles, however, I always choose the ski goggles, provided they have good quality and lens provide effective protection for my eyes.

To make this claim, I rely primarily on the ability to exchange our lens in most goggle, so that adapt to different types of visibility. On the other hand, for a skier with a certain level who reaches high speed, the ski goggles prevent air into his eyes, something that is almost inevitable with most sunglasses and is a really uncomfortable situation. In addition, I also share the properties listed above as adjustability, safety, wide viewing angle...

Therefore, given its versatility, I recommend the goggle with lens adapted to each situation in skiing, however, every skier should assess the pros and cons and opt for the model of glasses that they like.
